Cervical Cancer Death Rate

Select a County
Measurement Period: 2018-2022
This indicator shows the age-adjusted death rate due to cervical cancer (ICD-10 code C-53).

Why is this important?

Cervical cancer forms in the tissue of the cervix (the organ connecting the uterus and vagina). It is usually a slow-growing cancer that may not have symptoms but can be found with regular screening. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main cause of cervical cancer. HPV is a common virus that is passed from one person to another during sex. Vaccines are highly effective to prevent HPV infection and Pap and HPV screening tests can detect early stages of cervical cancer.  When found early, cervical cancer is highly treatable.
