Mothers Who Had a Postpartum Care Visit

Select a County
Measurement Period: 2022

This indicator shows the percentage of women with a recent birth who report having had a postpartum care visit with a health worker within six months of delivery.

Why is this important?

Postpartum care visits provide a woman and her health care provider with the opportunity to assess the woman’s health and discuss any concerns she may have. The health care provider can evaluate the status of any pregnancy-related conditions, screen for postpartum depression, provide counseling on infant care or family planning, and give the mother referrals for the management of chronic conditions. Maintaining good health after delivery is good both for the mother and the newborn.
