Received Treatment for Illicit Drug Use

Measurement Period: 2018-2019
This indicator shows the percentage of persons aged 12 years and older who needed illicit drug treatment and received it in the past 12 months.

Why is this important?

Addiction is a complex illness that can be extremely difficult to cure. Since the mid-1970s, research has shown that treatment can help addicted patients to stop using, avoid relapse, and recover their lives. Medication and behavioral therapy, often combined, are critical elements of treatment. A continuum of care that addresses all aspects of the patient's life is ideal. If an individual feels he/she has a problem with drugs and/or alcohol, seeking treatment is an important step in recovery.
